I couldn't figure out how to turn off my alarm, so I'm up at my usual time sifting through my email inbox. I come across a post from my fitness coach, Alex - he sends out blog posts on a regular basis. I see he's written something about crossing Canada, which piques my interest. I get into reading the post and see the name "Corinne", and think, he must have programmed the post to be personalized to the name of each reader. I continue reading...and OMG! The blog post is about ME! At first I'm shocked and then I am just laughing away quietly - taking care not to wake Brian. I've been pretty low key about this adventure - and it's interesting to see it through the eyes of another person - especially someone who has been so very helpful with supporting me to get ready for this challenge (Alex is a fantastic fitness coach). After yesterday's tough ride, this blog post feels like such a lovely gift!

Brian calls today our “transfer day” – because we transferred from one campsite to another within the campground, saving me 100 meters of biking in the morning. He gets the concept now – and I know he’s just pulling my leg.

It is a pretty uneventful day – Brian has been working, I have found some earplugs to drown him out. I get to complete some outstanding tasks on my to do list – which feels great!

I finally get to spend some time on the “Quebec by Bike” website and dive into the more detailed planning. Quebec is just a few more rides away, HOWEVER there are very high temperatures forecasted for early next week. I am a bit all over the place estimating the distance I can reasonably travel on Highway 17 and how long I can reasonably stay in the sun and heat. I feel like I want to get out of Ontario before the high temperatures hit, but I’m not sure if that is possible.

So today is pretty uneventful. I only get out of the trailer at night to check in on Brian who is spending some special time with his Blackstone Grill (I mean cooking dinner) and when the sun is setting.

I feel ready to ride down the highway again tomorrow. I will leave early to make the most of the quiet highway.

At 55, I'm carving out some 'me' time to bike across Canada.

  • "Do I know anything about long haul biking?" Nope...well, I'm learning.

  • "Are you physically fit?" Nope...well, I'm getting there.

I'm super lucky to be backed up with a supportive cheer squad of my husband, children, family and friends  - and a growing community of supporters around the world.

As I travel, I'm looking forward to documenting my travels (I love to write) and expressing my creativity through photography and free style expression (TBD).

Thank you for joining me as I explore Canada, push my limits, and embrace the beauty that this land has to share.

Feel free to reach out to me at visscher@ymail.com.
